This computer lab practicum is designed to teach students to research important case information on the internet. They will work with a small group leader to develop a case and prepare negative strategies. For those of you who are new, this can make all the difference in your level of success. This lab time is required for all first year students and highly recommended for second year students who are still learning the ropes of research. Exemptions are allowed for those students that are second year and beyond who have turned in their evidence prior to camp. If you complete assignments ahead of time, it will free up your lab session to compete in the Parli rounds and/or attend other lectures.

Assignments

Novice TP

Novice TP students will not have any assignments due before camp. Novice TP students will have mandatory lab time in which they will be taught by their lab leaders how to construct a case based on the cases they will already have for camp. Lab assignments will be due during camp.

Open TP

Open TP students will receive assignments prior to camp to research specific case areas. Their assigned lab leader will give them a case topic and plan text. In cooperation with their lab group, each student will construct a case that will be reviewed by the lab leader. All assignments are due by Wednesday night of camp. Students who do not contribute to lab group case will not receive the other camp cases needed to participate in the tournament.

Novice LD

Novice LD students will not have any assignments due before camp. Novice LD students will have mandatory lab time in which they will be taught and assisted by their lab leaders to write a case which will be due during camp.

Open LD

Open LD students will be given an assignment prior to camp. They will be asked to complete one case and one brief for camp. The case may be an Aff or a Neg case. Open LD students must have their cases and briefs approved by their lab leaders.
